A new life dream: “We are the creators of our life”.

I am Elányma: Musician-artist dreamer of life.

At 44 years of age, after a long career as a professional musician, I finally gave myself permission to dive deep into the exploration of myself as an artist and create a new dream for my life.   I recorded my first album, which was a magical experience that was both deeply revealing and healing.

In this first album called ‘Muerde’ *, I composed and produced nine songs, played many instruments, collaborated with different artists, crafted and edited nine music videos and sang. Singing had always been a dream of mine and I finally followed the impulse to develop and express myself as a singer.

The album “Muerde” was born out of an ‘inner death’ of my being, and that is why it is made up of fragments of different characters that have been part of my biography here on earth.  To get to know more about ‘Muerde’ visit this playlist.

Recording this album showed me that how we relate to art and the process of artistic creation is intimately related to how we live and perceive the world.  This means that by changing our relationship to art, we change our relationship with ourselves and the world.

At this moment my dream is to continue creating and discovering, and in this way contribute to this beautiful and magical world that is in constant change.

*Muerde literally means ‘bite’, but the word in Spanish is one letter away from ‘Muerte’ which means death, so in Spanish ‘Muerde’ evokes different images in the listener, images like: sharp teeth digging into something and not letting go of it!  ‘Muerde’ evokes intensity.

The next project

The new project is something completely different and integrates many new and exciting dimensions. The project will include six musicians, a choir of four women, a dancer, and an actor. We will also need an artistic producer and a manager. The work will first come to life as a live performance integrating composition and improvisation,  allowing for innovation on stage. As it matures and evolves through different presentations, the work will culminate in an album and videos.

The project has a new vision and a new sound. In this project, I seek to explore the illusory aspect of reality. Are we who we think we are? Can we choose new ways of being or a new personality at any given moment? Where does the true “self” lie within the tragedy and comedy called human life?

THE STAGES OF CREATION AND PRODUCTION:

FIRST STAGE: Composition and initial creation.

In this stage, texts, music, songs, and concepts surrounding the work are composed.

STAGE TWO: Forming and shaping.

1. Creation of the musical group: Practice and development. This stage is already in progress, and I have already begun collaborating with other musicians and giving mini-concerts at home to shape this large project.
2. Creation of the production team.
3. TEN presentations in Baja California: Once the group is formed, we will begin our season of presentations. FOUR presentations will be with a smaller group, and SIX will be with the large group. With each presentation, the work will undergo expansion and transformation. This will influence the textual, musical, and theatrical composition.  It will also deepen the expressive and meditative capacities of the group of artists involved in the project. All of this will be documented on video and can be used for the final videos of the work.

The first two stages are already in progress.

STAGE THREE: ALBUM. Recording an album is a multi-stage process. All stages require attention and care to offer an album that expresses the richness of the musical work.

1. Composition: adaptation of the live work for recording.
2. Rehearsals with the musical group: the group of musicians will practice the songs to give them fluidity and life.
3. Recording in the studio.
4. Editing, mixing, and mastering: with all the music already recorded, there is still the great task of editing and mixing.

STAGE  FOUR: VIDEOS. In our present world video is the principal form of communication in the world. With video we can share the work in a direct and meaningful way to thousands of people across multiple continents.

1. Script: writing an innovative and exciting script.
2. Planning: organizing all the necessary resources for filming.
3. Filming.
4. Editing: bringing all the material to life through innovative and precise editing.

STAGE FIVE: Album release and promotion.

STAGE SIX: Offering the live work to different forums and countries. Our objective is for the work to be sponsored by different organizations and/or be self-sustaining.

Your financial support makes this dream a reality on Earth.

Your support will be used to finance the new project and cover the following expenses:

1. Stipend for Elányma for 18 months. This includes:
   • Composing and developing the production: Music, texts, and choreography.
   • Gathering, rehearsing, and guiding musicians, singers, and artists.
   • Producing the album.
   • Practicing music on instruments and vocals.
   • Videos. Writing a script, producing, filming, editing.
2. Stipend for Júlia Sneidrova, main creative collaborator, administrator, and singer-musician.
3. Salaries and travel expenses for six musicians and four women singers for ten live performances and the recording of the album.
4. Salaries and travel expenses for the dancer and the actor for live performances.
5. Salaries and travel expenses for the production assistant and manager.
6. Salaries and travel expenses for the cameraman.
7. Equipment: audio, musical instruments, and costumes.
8. Venue rental for performances, setup for audio and lighting.
9. Studio recording, editing, mixing, and mastering.
10. Production of music videos.
11. Promotion of the ‘MUERDE’ album to build an audience for the next work.
12. Promotion of the new work.

Transparency is important to us. If you would like a breakdown of our expenses, please write to us, and we will gladly provide that information.

Distribution of funds in percentages of the total amount by points described above. From the total amount of 231,176 dls.

1. 39%, 2. 8%, 3.-6. 28%, 7. 5%, 8. 3%, 9. 5%, 10. 10%, 11. 1%, 12. 1%

Additionally, we raised the total amount to cover taxable income, percentages taken by fundraising agencies and other bureaucratic expenses.  Total amount to raise including all costs: 300,000 dls.

Contributing to the World

This project will have a significant impact on culture and society.

Firstly, it will offer the world a fresh and alternative perspective on how we view our human life. Our desire is to bring about changes; changes in myself, in those involved, and in the audience witnessing the work.

Secondly, it will generate employment for dozens of artists, and at the same time, the artists involved will be nurtured by the work and its unique character and form of artistic expression.

In today’s society, it is difficult for us to let go of old paradigms. Art creates a gap in the rigid idea that everything must continue in the same way as we know it. The truth is that things can change, and we are the ones who can change them.

This live performance will serve as collective healing, individual healing, celebration, and also as a rite of passage to a new reality.

This work and ritual will help us to see beyond the illusion that causes us so much suffering and thus enable us to face life and death with more curiosity and equanimity. And why not?! Also with more joy!

Some important questions:

What will we do if we don’t raise all of the funds for the work?

The answer is simple. We will adapt. This work will be carried out, and that is a fact. Like everything in life, we will adapt to the resources available, whether we raise much less than requested or triple the amount requested. Humans are creative! VERY! 🙂

When will the first presentation of the work be ready, and when will the entire project be completed?

The plan is for the first presentation to be ready six months after the end of the first fundraising campaign. The completion of the entire project, including the album and videos, is projected to be completed 18 months after the end of the first fundraising campaign.
